What led us here ...?
We are a loosely organized group keenly interested in furthering the understanding of this model of governance and encouraging its development in Canada. We are organized Sociocratically. We are NOT the originators of this new paradigm in management systems. (see History) Our top circle is located in Calgary. So far we are not pressed to register legally. To date this initiative has been financially supported by FGM Alternatives.
We are working toward certification as Sociocratic consultants. Maggie and Rick completed an advanced facilitation training program in the fall of 2006 and are now available to facilitate meetings using sociocratic processes.

Steering Circle
Objectives
The aim of the steering circle of Sociocracy in Action is to continue to build an effective network that will develop the model in a Canadian context. Our next steps are to research potential funding sources and develop a business plan that incorporates the principals and practices of Sociocracy into the governance and decision making of the resulting organization.
Members of this circle are selected in an open process by those already serving and are added by invitation based on the needs of the organization for their skills, wisdom and potential contribution to the development of Sociocracy in Canada.
As we grow more circles will be added and double linked. These circles may be related to the functions such as; Financial. Some circles may be formed to coordinate activities geographically. Other circles will form for a specific project or to act in an advisory or helping way. A General or coordinating circle will be added to the structure once the number of participants warrants it. Circles will not be larger than 25 active participants, Each circle will be self managing, leading, doing and measuring results in their own realm keeping the overall aim of the Sociocracy In Action network in mind.
